author and editor
I live for stories—writing them, reading them, telling them, and listening to them. In college, a guidance counselor told me that writing wasn’t a real job and I should go into banking, so all of this is basically to prove him wrong. As we learn in fiction, revenge is good motivation!
Also in college, I got a degree in Creative Writing, wrote my first novel, and was awarded the G.E. Murray Award for Excellence in Creative Writing. I found some of my best friends, had a couple of plays performed, and met my husband. We now live in a very old house with our baby girl, and a couple of rescue animals to keep us crazy.
I am pretty lucky to write and edit for a living. I’ve written and edited over 500 children’s educational books as part of my day job, as well as editing dozens of fiction middle grade and young adult books. I write just about everything—young adult fiction, middle grade fiction, graphic novels, educational nonfiction, and some amateur poetry. I have too many pen name aliases to count. My first verse novel Every Little Bad Idea was published by West 44 Books in 2018.
I believe everyone has a story. These books are part of mine.
"Every Little Bad Idea is vivid, lyrical, heart-wrenching, and ultimately hopeful. Caitie's powerful writing will resonate with readers of all ages and leave them hungry for more of her deeply felt work."
